Remembering Jason David Frank: A Tribute from Amy Jo Johnson
Amy Jo Johnson, the original Pink Ranger, recently shared a heartfelt tribute to her late Power Rangers co-star, Jason David Frank.
On Instagram, Johnson posted a cherished photograph of herself with Frank, who portrayed Tommy Oliver in the first three seasons of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Her caption expressed gratitude for the picture obtained at Niagara Falls Comic Con, and conveyed her deep sadness at his passing, reflecting the sentiments of many.
Frank, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 49, joined the cast of MMPR near the end of its inaugural season in 1993. Initially, his role was slated for only a few episodes.
In a 2018 interview, Frank revealed his surprise at the role’s expansion. He initially expected a limited engagement, but his performance led to expanded opportunities and a long-lasting impact on the series.
Frank quickly became a beloved character, appearing in numerous Power Rangers projects, including Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, and others. His character, Tommy, donned various colored Ranger suits, adding to his enduring popularity.
Johnson previously shared anecdotes about working with Frank at a 2024 convention, describing his energetic personality and adventurous spirit.
Following Frank’s passing, Johnson also posted a separate Instagram tribute, expressing her profound love and loss.
