Simon Cowell Interrupts a Young “Justin Bieber” on America’s Got Talent
During a recent America’s Got Talent episode, a thirteen-year-old musician from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, named Chase Varnes, experienced an unexpected interruption from judge Simon Cowell.
Cowell, known for his decisive critiques, stopped Varnes’ performance shortly after he began singing and playing the guitar.
Cowell expressed his dislike for the song choice but conveyed his interest in Varnes as a performer, suggesting he try another song.
Varnes initially performed Ed Sheeran’s “Life Goes On,” captivating the audience and most judges.
Judge Howie Mandel compared Varnes to a young Justin Bieber, a compliment that visibly thrilled the young performer.
Sofia Vergara also offered positive feedback, noting improvement in his second song and predicting strong fan appeal.
Mel B, however, expressed reservations, praising his potential but noting a lack of polish and confidence.
Mandel and Vergara voted “yes,” while Mel B ultimately voted “no,” advising Varnes to return after gaining more experience.
Despite Mel B’s “no” vote, Cowell ultimately used his “save,” ensuring Varnes’s progression in the competition, citing the audience’s enthusiastic reception.
The show then featured several other acts, including a “cat rapper” and a feline-themed dance troupe, each receiving mixed reactions from the judges.
America’s Got Talent continues to air Tuesdays on NBC.
