Utilizing the “Clean Up Suggested Items” Feature
I was fed up with my Google Drive, so I decided to do a massive spring clean and free up gigabytes of storage space. It may seem like a load of rubbish, but following these guidelines can make the task easier to clean up your Google Drive
1. Sorting by “Last Opened” and removing items I’ve been without for Years
I had been keeping a Google Drive for more than four years, which meant that there were many files and folders that I no longer needed. The service is a go-to for me when it comes to writing articles and setting clear goals, as well as other tasks. From my perspective, it’s a more straightforward and uncomplicated tool than most productivity tools
I followed the same procedure when deleting files from Google Drive as I do when cleaning clothes. Anything I take for granted for more than a year is unlikely to be used again, and anything taken in over 2 years will not be

I went to My Drive The direction was reversed. Upon seeing numerous documents without titles, I was surprised and highlighted them before removing them. You may feel like you should do this every day Don’t shell out for Google Drive storage space
Google doesn’t ask for your consent to delete highlighted files and folders. If you’re uncertain, double-check each one to guarantee that you won’t need them again
2. Permitting Based on “Last Updated”
Whenever I want to free up Google Drive storage, I usually choose to uninstall files and folders that I haven’t used for years. However, there are times when I will need to reopen content at a later time without any additional space. To make sure I covered every detail, I also arranged my documents according to specific criteria Last modified by me
Documents that I had previously examined in the past few years but are no longer relevant were uncovered by me. I eliminated them by highlighting everything and then discarding all of them
3. Removing Photos
Decreased storage capacity on Google Photos One of the easiest ways to get rid of storage in your drive. I’ve made the switch to using Dropbox for my cloud photo storage and deleted all the images in Google Drive, making this task effortless
I used the photo filtering feature to narrow down my options for filters Filter icon And selected Photos & images I transferred all my Dropbox files, including pictures, to the trash folder

The same can be said for videos Videos To be viewed from the dropdown menu
The only way to delete photos and videos is if you have the permission. Shared files won’t be able to use this tip
4. Searching for Keywords in Documents I am No Longer using
I tend to use comparable names for documents that I’ll only use briefly and never revisit. By searching for tasks in the search bar, I was able to free up space on Google Drive. I Changed to using written task lists I no longer feel the need to use Google Drive for this task as I thoroughly enjoyed it
To be honest, I had to go through my results. However, I eliminated the documents that I had intended to access. Afterward, I looked for untitled documents. These were all underlined and deleted, but if they had significance, I would have given them a more memorable title

I searched for documents in this manner, which meant that I didn’t miss any that might not have been there when I looked at what I opened or modified
5. Utilizing the “Clean Up Suggested Items” Feature
An useful feature of Google Drive allows you to identify items that it suggests you should erase. By means of this, I managed to eliminate a significant amount of unnecessary manual labor. The ability to sort by file size is a handy tool, especially for deleting space-consuming files that I don’t require

After clicking on Clean up space , I had even more options for removing what I didn’t need. I had the ability to delete emails containing large attachments and spam, as well as select the service I wanted to use

Clearing Google Drive is a straightforward task, and I plan to do it more than once every four years. With the ability to clean suggested items and filtering tools, you can easily find a large number of items that are not required to be stored in your drive
