My Cloud Computing Journey
AW SS hared Responsibility Model
Today, I will explore the Shared Responsibility Model
This is a key concept in Cloud computing
Using a basic analogy, I will demonstrate the shared responsibility model
Imagine you’re sitting in a room with, one teacher and another student. Whether directly or indirectly, we must have experienced this situation
The teachers primary responsibility is to educate, coach, and equip students for examination. Moreover, the teacher is expected to supervise and assess the students during tests
The student is obligated to pay attention and adhere to the teacher’s instructions. The student is obligated to study and get ready for his exams. Inadequate performance by students hinders the learning process, and the teacher cannot be held responsible
The student cannot be held responsible for poor performance if the teacher does not perform adequately, just like anyone else
The roles are clearly defined, and each party must be aware of their responsibilities
It is evident that every person possesses the skills and abilities required to make the entire process successful. They both have a role to play and each must do it to make the process successful
The Shared Responsibility Model entails this
The shared responsibility model is based on the same principle. The cloud provider is responsible for certain aspects, while the client (user) is accountable for others
The cloud provider controls and manages all aspects of The host operating system, virtualization layer, and data center facilities
Updates and security patches, as well as other application software and firewall configurations, are managed by the customer with regard to the guest operating system
If a teacher or student fails to fulfill their duties, the system’s security and functionality may be compromised. The cloud provider cannot be held responsible for security breaches caused by misconfigured apps, just as the student cannot blame their teacher for poor exam performance if they do not study properly
The next topic to cover is the shared responsibility model of AWS, AZURE and GCP
