Is Costco not willing to Raise their prices?
I am seeking a different solution, but the efforts of labor unions cannot resolve the issue

The location of my Costco warehouse is in the Midwest Region, where I work Not unionized
Our 1200 hours of work result in a guaranteed $1 increase. The Executive Membership is complimentary and provides employees with full benefits, including 2% cash back on every purchase, for those who work over 20 hours per week We receive all the benefits that unionized employees receive, without having to pay any dues
I enjoy working at Costco because they understand that the most important thing for their employees is to keep them happy
There is no worker’s union in my store or region. I am able to communicate with my supervisors about any problems I may have, and we work together to resolve them
My store has a few employees who are open to joining unions. They feel they are not treated fairly in the workplace
I desire that they relocate to a different location for employment. When people at work are doing one of the easiest jobs in the world, they’re standing idle talking about their lives
I joined Costco to break away from the union that emerged in my old workplace
I used to be employed by a small co-op grocery store. I began my career as a clerk and later transitioned to safety certifications after leaving my job as an Deli manager. The employees of this store felt like they were being treated unfairly
Due to their employment and expenses, the majority of workers believed that they should receive a higher salary. Those employees who went beyond a week without calling in at least once were rare. While I sympathize with those struggling to balance their work and life as a result of chronic illness, this was not the case in this situation. Individuals would feel a sense of dissatisfaction and avoid going to work
I acknowledge that my earnings were not satisfactory towards the end of my time at this co-op. Instead of negotiating with an union representative who took advantage of my salary by accepting compensation and repeatedly misnamed me, I applied for other positions that were highly regarded by their own employees
Among other companies, I applied to Costco. I have been selected for employment in 2019 and my progress is encouraging
It’s clear to me that our personalities fluctuate slightly between individuals
The reason why certain individuals are more adept at managing life is their understanding of the difficulty that comes with it The absence of love for your workplace is not a significant issue in the grand scheme of things
The possibility exists that a toxic work environment can have adverse effects on your mental, emotional, and physical health. Being obligated to attend a job that pays you for doing things like cooking, cleaning, and being courteous to others regardless of differences is not the responsibility of your employer
Both of my parents were union members at their jobs, and they both had contrasting personal experiences
My mother was employed by Northwest Airlines and cherished her marriage. She mentioned that the primary concerns they addressed at her workplace were safety regulations and ensuring that workers were eligible for pensions. The sexist conditions that prevented women from getting married and were required to take measurements and weigh themselves were also eliminated
Lack of a gap between layovers and shifts meant that pilots as well as flight attendants were not restrained, which was the biggest safety risk to their staff. Being a flight attendant, she was constantly on and off the plane for almost two days without any breaks. Despite being on zero sleep, she was supposed to be aware of all the safety protocols for multiple planes at any moment. The expectation was for pilots to do the same
It is evident that these were significant concerns for both the sleepless workforce and those who were stranded 10000 feet in the air with their colleagues. The union enforced regulations that ensured the safety of all individuals and provided them with a just wage for their work
The union was discussed by my father with varying perspectives
The city in which my dad was employed was located in our home state of Minnesota. The street department in a prosperous suburb, where he worked for inch, was responsible for operating heavy machinery, maintaining clean streets and preventing snowfall, and overseeing other individuals
My dad had minimal control over the individuals who were hired to work under his supervision. The primary concern he had was that his employees were safeguarded from being terminated due to reckless and irresponsible behavior
My definition of bad employees is not limited to those who occasionally struggle with their tasks or attendance, but also includes incompetent individuals who cannot be trusted to receive compensation for holding a “slow down” sign
Other workers would frequently show up at work intoxicated and anticipate being permitted to operate heavy machinery in public places. Can you expect them to be terminated? It’s Only after one year of repeating the same action. If not, they will be sent back home with remuneration!
Employees who would sexually harass other employees repeatedly would be terminated within months of reporting them, and they would still receive a substantial severance package as mandated by the union
The sexual harassment of today was not the questionable “he looked at my buttocks” incident, but rather a more subtle form of intimidation
My dad was pleased with his pension and decent compensation, but the relationship ended abruptly. Despite having almost flawless attendance and winning numerous awards that his colleagues and superiors voted for, he never felt secure or heard while at work. He was supposed to arrive at his job with anticipation of a snowflake, but his fellow workers could come home drunk, unintentionally destroy private property, and receive the same amount of money to leave
I suppose it’s still better than what my other friends and family had
The USPS employees I know claim that you must commit murder to be terminated, as per the belief of their family members. It’s possible that you won’t be fired and only switch to another line of work
One of my closest friends works in a legal cannabis grower that is making tons of money. The worker’s union intervened and rectified issues for them. By fixing things, he means increasing his pay by $1 and receiving two weeks of paid vacation after working there for almost five years. He must now pay union dues and go through an unreachable union representative if he wants to make schedule changes. Sounds great
What are the expectations of Costco from me?
I am only interested in the things they are doing. I wish more people would be fired for not doing anything, but the cancel culture in today’s world demands a lot more than just being idle
However, I can say with certainty::
Whenever I am informed that my hourly work raise is below my regular salary, I experience a sinking feeling in my stomach
When I discuss the current state of wages for workers, it seems that higher wages are always preferred by everyone
However, I am cognizant that they are not
My cost of living increases with every increase in my salary
As a young pup, I was happy with my entry-level job that offered me pay between $9-$10 an hour, but my rent was only $600. My standard of living has not changed in less than ten years, but the cost of doing so is now three times higher
Higher wages resulted in an increase in the cost of everything else, so my wages do not seem to be higher
Could it not be advantageous for powerful unions to disregard subpar employment and instead concentrate on enforcing unionized living standards in slumlord neighborhoods?
Despite the fact that people can’t secure loans for mortgages below their current rent, why do they still opt to rent instead of owning a home?
Unionize students to ensure they are aware of the exact amount and duration of their college education when paying for it. ‘General credits’ are no longer valid by year 3 due to their expiration. Ignoring the demand of proving that you paid for their $300 textbook, which you were never required to use. We must put an end to predatory student loan practices. Uncomplicated tasks that are genuinely achievable
There are numerous issues that need to be addressed in this world. Costco was never a company I worked for
I appreciate your input, folks! K. T. F ox Is unpublished. My motivation for writing is primarily to keep myself in good health and avoid becoming an overbearing dictator. I hope my ramblings are of interest to you as well:):
