Women Rising is the theme of TWIG 2025, a movement inspired by Women from Tennessee
Tiffany Wilmot: Founder of Wilmot inc And Co-founder of TWIG stands for the Women’s Green Caucus organization In Tennessee
“Look around this room. Every face you see belongs to an exceptional individual. You’re here because of something in your life that burns brighter than any doubt. You’re here because you don’t accept the world for what it is, and can see it from a very clear perspective. TWI GC o-Founder and Sustainability Pioneer, Tiffany Wilmot, stated
The battle for sustainability has always been a political battleground, challenging corporate inertia and the strength of will to overcome it. The battle demands the involvement of visionaries, warriors, and those who are willing to risk their livesHold onto their position in the face of uncertain circumstances. Women have been at the forefront of this battle for many years
Among the warriors is Tiffany Wilmot, founder of Wilmoloxin. Com and co-founder of Tennessee Women in Green (TWIG). Sustainability was not her dream, but rather a passion she pursued to become one. And today, in aIn a world where progress and preservation are at odds, she emphasizes the importance of women in sustainability as leaders who can lead the way
TWIG was born in 2008, during the height of the Great Recession. Wilmot and co-founder Laurel Creech discovered that women in sustainability were stronger together, even during the economic downturn. A network of women in the field that began small has now become a powerful force shaping policy, projects, and communities across Tennessee
“In the past, we were taught by society to view other women as competitors. Rather than fighting over crumbs, they wanted us to build bakeries together. Wilmot stated to a gathering of professionals, activists, and changemakers that “it’s over now.”
The transformation of TWIG is not just a networking group, but essentially transforming the way people are involved in sustainability. Women are given mentorship, resources, and a voice in an industry that has been underrepresentedBy men. According to Wilmot, the key to success is not gender, but rather vision
The importance of supporting women in sustainability is not based on gender, but rather on the understanding that protecting our planet means taking care of ourselves and our descendants. ”
Wilmot’s work is as tangible as the infrastructure she has helped shape. From citywide solar projects to massive waste diversion efforts, she has turned sustainability into economic opportunity
At Wilmot inc. The philosophy is clear: sustainability isn’t just about being green — it’s about making the business case for sustainability
“We’ve learned that the most powerful argument for sustainability isn’t saying that it’s ‘green’ — it’s economic, ” Wilmot stated
“When we tell clients that sustainability saves money, they listen. When weShow them how solar is the cheapest form of energy — cheaper now than coal, natural gas, or nuclear — they act. ”
The road to women’s sustainability remains uneven, despite decades of progress. Wilmot expressed his understanding of the frustration that many people feel due to setbacks, political opposition, and industry obstacles
“I’m feeling both anguish and frustration in my heart.”. Those sentiments are genuine, right?. They’re real. But they’re fuel. ”
She urged the room not to let despair turn to disillusionment but to action. Crying, screaming, feeling overwhelmed — those are not signs of weakness, they are part of the process. The only failure is inaction
And in a world that often pits people against each other, she made a bold call for unity:
“No tribes, no cliques. We MUST work together, support each other’s successes, and lift each other up after failures. If we do that, we’ll be able to Make Our Earth Great Again — MEGA. ”
According to Wilmot, sustainability is not limited to policies and projects, but involves individuals contributing to the overall development of the planet. The purpose is to unite diverse communities and make a meaningful difference. The objective is to create a world where the environment and economy are harmonious and work together for everyone’s benefit in the future
The task assigned to each person was to establish a foundation of facts, act at the local level, and convey sustainability messages in empathetic manner. A forest that is far from common will not be appreciated by everyone, but they will appreciate the tree in their front yard. The climate will not be understood by everyoneThey will be aware of the rising energy costs despite the current crisis
The most significant thing was that everyone in the room reflected on their work ethic
“In addition to your creativity, you possess visionary qualities.”. Your intelligence is not limited to discernment, but also possesses prophetic abilities. You’re capable of healing a wounded world and not just being nice. ”
In a time of uncertainty, TWIG and its members stand as proof that women in sustainability don’t just weather storms — they rebuild after them. They don’t just fight for the environment — they shape the future
And as Tiffany Wilmot made her closing remarks, her message was clear:
“Together, we’re not just going to make things better. We’re going to make them extraordinary. ”
